On January 2020, Head of Southeast Sulawesi Province Mining Inspector, Buhardiman launched the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and also declared it as HSE Month for PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama (CNI). The declaration was marked by release doves by Buhardiman with PT CNI Management at PT CNI Site, Wolo, Kolaka Regency, on Sunday January 19.
In his remarks, Buhardiman said that every mining activity must follow good mining principles, including occupational safety and health principles. For this reason, he requested that all parties must implement and comply with standard operating procedures in their business activities. He also addressed the recent fatality incident that occurred some time ago in North Konawe. “Recently, there have been occupational accidents in our area which caused casualties. Based on mine inspector’s investigation, it is concluded that it was caused by the that element of worker’s negligence, whom do not understand and do not comply with existing SOPs,” he said.
On this occasion, Buhardiman hopes that all IUP holders who actively carry out mining activities in Southeast Sulawesi this year must ensure to implement the Mining Safety Management System (SMKP). Its application must be in accordance with applicable regulations.
“All IUP holders who have and will implement the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) in 2020 must ensure that their SMKP documents can be implemented in the field. This is in accordance with good mining principles and in accordance with applicable Ministerial regulations. It is hoped that there will be an internal audit of the SMKP implementation to be conducted at least once a year […] so that we can minimize the incidence of workplace accidents in the mining environment”, he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) of PT CNI, Kms. Alpi Cekdin said that the commemoration of OHS Month this year had the theme “Optimizing the Independence of the Cultivated Community for Occupational Safety and Health in the era of Information Technology-Based Industrial Revolution 4.0.”
He said, in the OHS framework commemoration this year PT CNI has held several activities. Among them are the OHS Month ceremony, examination and testing of OHS objects in PT CNI’s laboratory by a third party in collaboration with the Southeast Sulawesi Department of Manpower and Transmigration Office, healthy work campaigns, OHS seminar, OHS training, health checks, blood donations, and several competitions. “All these activities are carried out to foster and encourage all PT CNI employees to realize the goal of zero accident in 2020 to meet the planned production targets,” he said.
Previously, on the same occasion Kms. Alpi Cekdin also reviewed PT CNI’s K3 performance and production achievements during 2019. “Praise be to God, with the achievement of production in the export quota of 100% (2.1 million tons of nickel ore) in 2019 PT CNI did not experience Dangerous Events, Lost Time Injury (LTI) and Fatality,” he concluded.
