Ceria currently develops a smelter project with engineering designs provided by China ENFI Engineering Corporation and construction planned by WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (WISDRI) of China.
Ceria’s Lapaopao Block Laterite Project (SAP-RKEF) in Indonesia are projected to be a large-scale smelting complex, consisting of 6 major parts, namely RKEF Smelter Area, Smelter Auxiliary Facilities, Utility, Office and Living Area as well as External Facilities.
The planned capacity of the project has an annual output of 229,090 tonnes of ferronickel containing 22% nickel (nickel metal tonnage 50,400t/a) by processing 3.58 million tonnes of ore (dry basis) annually. The smelter project is provides four RKEF production lines, with 4×72MVA rectangular FeNi electric furnaces. Phase 1 of this project is one 72MVA electric furnace line, which is scheduled to be constructed and put into production in first semester of 2021.
Between 2017 and 2018 Ceria have completed feasibility study, environmental permits and land preparation. Camps, offices and utilities have also been built for the smelter project. The Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contract was signed in 2018 and construction will commence in 2019.
