One of the key factor of international business success is a stable and reliable energy supply. In Indonesia, the task was carried out by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). In the event held at Hotel Mulia, on Monday 23rd July 2018 at Mulia Hotel, Jakarta, PLN signed an electricity transaction agreement with 13 investors investing in Sulawesi.
One of the companies that signed the cooperation contract was PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama (Ceria). The guarantee of electricity supply from PLN will support industries and businesses in Sulawesi, especially for mineral processing and refining needs (smelters).
Ceria Director, Derian Sakmiwata, revealed, with the signing of the Electricity Purchase Agreement (SPJBTL), Ceria had already begun a major step in accelerating the target of the smelter construction.
“This is a great progress and achievement for us in building a smelter. We certainly treasure this cooperation. In accordance with our commitment to support regional and national economic growth, we can now focus on pursuing the target of building our smelter which is now running,” said Mr Derian.
According to Mr Derian, the construction of the smelter itself takes place in three stages, namely the first construction of 2 lines, the second phase 2 lines and the third stage of the construction of 4 lines.
Ceria, which only being operation at the end of 2017, with an IUP area of 6,785 hectares, has absorbed around 900 employees, of which 70% are local residents.
“With this electricity guarantee, we believe, our smelter industry will operate quickly according to the planned timeline,” he said.
PLN itself is fully committed in guaranteeing electricity supply for industrial and business needs in Sulawesi, especially the processing and refining of minerals (smelters) that are located in southeast Sulawesi.
“This smelter requires a large and reliable supply of electricity. Therefore, we congratulate industrial customers who executed the signing of the MoU, SPJBTL and Energize,” explained the Regional Director of Sulawesi’s PLN Business Syamsul Huda.
Sulselrabar Regional PLN General Manager Bambang Yusuf said, Ceria became the largest PLN Platinum Premium customer in eastern Indonesia with a total power of 350 million VA supply from a high voltage of 150,000 volts.
According to Bambang, platinum premium customers such as Ceria will be a priority that is guaranteed the continuity of electricity supply without being extinguished and will be compensated should they experience disruption.
