KOLAKA- To prevent flooding during high tide, PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program with the Wolo District Government, built a wave barrier or abrasion prevention along the coastal tourism route in Muara Lapao Pao Village, Friday (04/12 / 2020).
The construction of embankments uses heavy equipment because the area is prone to flooding, as well as securing the main road and the houses of local residents from being hit by waves and flooding during high tide. So far, there has also been abrasion that has eroded tens of meters of the Babarina coast.
Secretary of Muara Lapao Pao village, Anwar Wahab said that the embankment was done using elephant stones, buttoned by small stones placed on the edge, so that the building is strong and solid.
“If we use all large logs, there must be a lot of empty space. That is why we use broken stones to fill the gaps,” said Anwar Wahab.
Meanwhile, Head of Wolo Sub-district Andi Agung hopes that the wave break embankment construction program will be a solution to reduce the impact of tidal flooding, so that coastal residents in Muara Lapao Pao Village, Wolo District, can feel comfortable and calm, and no longer have to worry when high waves occur, especially during the full moon phenomenon.
“Our hope is that on next January 2021, the handling of floods due to tidal wave flooding can be handled, with the completion of the wave barrier,” hoped Andi Agung. (*)
